About Crosswinds Jazz Band
CrossWinds Jazz Band started back in November 2000 with a dream and a single donation. The band started rehearsing in the sanctuary of the First United Methodist Church of Carrollton, and from the first rehearsal, it was obvious that they were on to something. They quickly attracted some of the best local players and today use their unique talent to deliver God's message through their music. CrossWinds has grown into a very exciting band and has become well known for their high caliber of music, as well as an extremely high level of musicianship. But as an all-volunteer group, they feel they have even more to offer than just their music. For these individuals, coming together to create music for The Lord is the one thing that sets CrossWinds apart from most other jazz bands in the area. They have performed at venues from church gatherings to black tie parties and wedding receptions, in addition to being featured at the Dallas Arboretum during their Summer Music Series. They have played for the Dallas Mayor's Committee, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) and numerous other corporate events and fund raisers. Their music includes dance and swing styles from the bigband era of Glen Miller and The Count Basie Orchestra, to the modern Bigband Jazz sounds of Gordon Goodwin, Maynard Ferguson, Stan Kenton, and The Tonight Show Band, just to name a few. Each member gives their time freely as a part of this unique ministry and as an opportunity to use their gifts and talents to help spread God's word. Let them make your next event a success.
Individually, Crosswinds musicians are by day a diverse lot of engineers, computer programmers, retirees, salesmen, high school students, financial advisors, and band directors. By night, they come together as a unified whole, sharing a passion for producing big band and jazz favorites that will have your toes tapping, your head swaying, and your fingers snapping.
